Fragile Insects

Butterflies, moths and other specimens that will break or become discolored if submerged in alcohol.

Please include a Insect/Arthropod ID Request form in a separate plastic bag to keep it dry.

 For best results, follow these packaging steps:

1. If the specimen is alive, put it into a box or sealable plastic container and freeze for 2-3 hours before sent.
2. Gently wrap the dead specimen in tissue paper or napkins.
3. Pack the specimen in a crush-proof box for shipping. Make sure there is no space available in box for specimens to move while in transit.
4. Ship the specimen to the address on the submission form.

PPDC is not a medical facility. The clinic does not examine vacuum cleaner bags or items containing body fluids or skin. The clinic does not handle medical waste materials.
